According to medics, Israeli troops killed four Palestinians, including a boy, and wounded hundreds of others on Friday with live fire or tear gas used against protesters at the Gaza fence as weeks of deadly clashes with protesters continue. It said at one location at least two Palestinian militants fired guns at its forces and others threw grenades.

"I think what happened yesterday is a red card from everybody to the Israelis to (get them to) understand that they (only) have a right to organise, or play football within their internationally recognised borders", he said in English, pointing out the final status of Jerusalem is supposed to be the subject of negotiations between the parties.

Among the protesters killed was a 15-year-old identified as Haitham Mohammed al Jamal. Of 618 people wounded, 120 were from live fire, they said.

The motion called on the conference to condemn Israel's attack, which has killed over 120 people since protests began in Gaza on 30 March, oppose "Israeli settlements on occupied Palestinian land", support the implementation of United Nations resolutions and "lead global efforts to end the siege of Gaza".

Israel's deadly tactics in confronting the protests have drawn global condemnation.

This demonstration came on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan and coincided with Jerusalem Day, an annual anti-Israel protest in Iran.

More than 700,000 Palestinians were expelled or fled in the 1948 Mideast war over Israel's creation.

In his own Ha'aretz op-ed published last week, Erekat accused Trump of working hand-in-hand with Israel to oppress the Palestinians. His family said he was taking part in a protest in Rafah, in southern Gaza, when he was shot. Israel and Hamas have fought three cross-border wars since 2008.

Israel Defense Forces had issued warnings on leaflets throughout Gaza and on Twitter, warning civilians to stay away from the fence.

Israel has long refused to admit Palestinian refugees, saying they belong in a future Palestinian state.
