  • James Corden and Paul Mc Cartney on 'Carpool Karaoke'

Sir Paul McCartney climbed in next to Corden, revealed tidbits about himself and the Beatles, and crooned show-themed songs such as "Penny Lane" (the actual road they were driving on) and "Drive My Car", per USA Today.

Lucky for us, the Late Late Show host apparently has the legend Paul McCartney on speed dial. "Can you please, please help me?" Paul even makes James tear up as he shares the inspiration behind "Let It Be". "It's weird how it can do that to you", McCartney said after they belted the 1970 ballad.

A visit to the famous Penny Lane was followed by a call at the singer's childhood home before the visit culminated in an emotional singalong at a city centre pub. "So I wrote the song 'Let it Be, ' about positivity". They also sang the music icon's new songs "Come on to Me" and "I Don't Know", which will be featured on his album Egypt Station (out September 7).

The video also saw the legend revisit his childhood home on 20 Fortlin Road, where he told the unbelievable story of how he and John Lennon wrote She Loves You and played it for his father. "And I remember them playing me that".

"I didn't feel it coming, it's too much for me".

When the 18-time Grammy victor explained to Corden that The Beatles' "Let It Be" was inspired by a dream he had about his mother, the late-night host started tearing up.

Their conversation got emotional as McCartney recounted a dream he'd had where his mother reassured him everything was going to be OK.

'I think if my grandad was here now he'd get an absolute kick out of this'.

The joyous "Carpool Karaoke" concluded at a local pub, the Philharmonic Dining Rooms, where The Beatles used to play when they were just starting out.

He added: "She gave me the positive word".
