Mr Trump, in remarks broadcast on Fox News Sunday, said Pyongyang was "very serious" about efforts toward denuclearisation.
USA officials, led by Ambassador Sung Kim, met with their North Korean counterparts Sunday at the demilitarized zone that divides North and South Korea, the first such meeting since the Singapore summit.
He will remain in North Korea until Saturday to "continue consultations and implement the forward progress made by President Donald Trump and Chairman Kim in Singapore", it added. "In the meantime, no Rocket Launches or Nuclear Testing in 8 months", he wrote on Twitter overnight. "All of Asia is thrilled", he said in a tweet. "Only the Opposition Party, which includes the Fake News, is complaining".
"Many good conversations with North Korea-it is going well!"
The moves illustrate how far Kim remains from surrendering his nuclear weapons despite committing to "work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula" during his meeting with Trump.
The White House has declined to comment on the prospect, maintaining that the U.S.is continuing to make progress with the nation.
The talks focused on taking the next step in carrying out the declaration signed by Trump and Kim during the Singapore summit on June 12.
Earlier in Trump's presidency, many experts said his "maximum pressure" approach to the USA adversary actually made armed conflict significantly more likely.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is also expected to visit Pyongyang this week to press for denuclearization as well, according to the Financial Times.
The North Koreans were finishing construction of the plant around the same time President Trump was meeting Kim in Singapore.
USA intelligence officials have separately concluded that Kim was seeking to hide his nuclear weapons stockpile and had no intention of surrendering his arsenal, NBC News reported. It did, however, note that Pompeo and "relevant high-level" North officials will hold follow-up negotiations "at the earliest possible date" to see through the outcomes of the summit.
Bolton also said the administration's plan would require the North Koreans to provide full disclosure of all their nuclear programs and ballistic missile sites, but that has not happened yet.
He said the one-year program the U.S.is proposing would cover all the North's chemical and biological weapons, nuclear programs and ballistic missiles.
Wednesday (July 4) marks the first anniversary of North Korea's test-firing of its first intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) capable of reaching Alaska.
