For all his tough talk on immigration from his election campaign to the ongoing migrant crisis brought about by his draconian policies, it seems rather freakish Trump wants foreign workers over US residents for his beloved resort.

The newspaper reported almost 300 USA workers had applied or been referred for jobs as waiters, waitresses, cooks and housekeepers but only 17 were hired.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump was asked about the club's practice of hiring foreign workers for the busiest months of the year during one of the Republican primary debates.

But, apparently, he himself can opt for foreign workers whenever it suits his objective, as a 2016 New York Times report revealed the club has filed for 500 visas for foreign workers through the Department of Labor since 2010.

By BuzzFeed's count, Trump has now tried to hire 240 foreign workers at Mar-a-Lago since he first announced his candidacy for president in June 2015 by calling foreign immigrants rapist and leeches on society. Furthermore, The New Yorker reported this March, "Since 2010 Mar-a-Lago alone has obtained a total of 500 H-2B visas for seasonal foreign workers".

Incidentally, a former employee told CNN that a large percentage of these seasonal workers are attractive, young women from Romania and South Africa, adding that the President prefers workers with an "exotic appeal".

Interested in Donald Trump? According to The Washington Post, "Mar-a-Lago only placed two hard-to-find classified ads in tiny type for waiters with no phone number or email information".

Trump frequently visits Mar-a-Lago from November to May.

Despite Trump railing about immigrants in the country, his administration made an extra 15,000 H-2B visas available for businesses in May.

The president is known to speak about the "Buy American, Hire American" policy on several occasions and has often asked businesses to opt for U.S. workers. "Does that make sense?"

Chase Scott, an event planner with the Salvation Army, said Trump's decision to give them a $25,000 check after the group held a Christmas event at Mar-a-Lago was not part of an incentive.
