  • Duck Boat Survivor Cries Over 9 Relatives’ Drowning & Reveals Captain Said They Didn’t Need Life Vests

"I feel like we did everything, at least we tried to do everything, by the book as meteorologists and we still had this terrible tragedy on our hands". Soon she couldn't even feel her son who had been sitting next to her on the duck boat, an amphibious vessel that can travel on road and water. "He said I'm going to show you where they are, but you won't need them", Coleman said. And I started floating. "I just can't keep drowning.' That's how I felt".

None of the 31 passengers on board was wearing a life jacket, according to an incident report released Saturday by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. "However in doing that, when it was time to grab them, it was too late and I believe that a lot of people could have been spared". And I wasn't able to do that.

"If it wasnt for them people, we wouldnt have a town", said Stephen Lyons, who is in construction and often works on vacation homes in Branson.

When the water temperature became warmer she knew she was close to the surface and was then pulled from the water by "beautiful people - angels" she didn't know who were jumping in the water to get bring people to safety.

Tia Coleman and 11 members of her family were aboard the boat when it capsized Thursday night.

"I just can't imagine trying to deal with nine people in your family".

"And they had the warning to know the storm was coming in, they shouldn't have taken those boats out", Cardwell added.

Company President Jim Pattison Jr said the boat captain had 16 years of experience, and the business monitors weather.

But a ticket checker said they should have boarded at a different location and made the family switch to the slightly later boat which sank.

Two Ride the Ducks amphibious tour boats departed the dock at Branson for an outing on Table Rock Lake.

The industry took little heed, said Robert Mongeluzzi, a Philadelphia attorney who has represented victims of duck boat crashes.

Suzanne Smagala with Ripley Entertainment, which owns Ride the Ducks in Branson, said the company was assisting authorities with their investigation.

Reports about the NTSB findings have resurfaced since the sinking of the "Ride the Ducks" boat in Stone County, Mo., Thursday.

The boat was carrying 29 passengers and two crew members on a pleasure cruise, and everyone aboard had been accounted for by midday Friday.

The other victims were identified as 69-year-old William Asher, 68-year-old Rosemarie Hamann, 63-year-old Janice Bright, 65-year-old William Bright, and the crew member operating the boat, 73-year-old Bob Williams, all from Missouri. A family member confirmed to local media outlets that another GoFundMe titled "Coleman Family Boat Accident" is also legitimate. "You know our thoughts and prayers are with Tia and the family", said Reverend Dr. Charles Harrison. "I don't get it, having a captain's licence myself".
