Arsenal have accepted a bid from Sporting Lisbon to sign Lucas Perez this summer, according to reports in the Portuguese media. But the Baggies are still hoping they can land the global midfielder with the lure of playing in what could be a very exciting season as they battle for promotion back to the Premier League.

West Ham new boy Lucas Perez has insisted that he is very excited about joining the Hammers as it will give him the chance to continue playing in the Premier League.

On the club's official website Perez expressed his happiness on the completion of the move, saying: "I'm very happy to be here at such a historic club".

Perez cost Arsenal a reported £17million in 2016 but made just two Premier League starts under Arsene Wenger as he failed to earn a regular spot at the Emirates Stadium.

The Hammers have handed the former Deportivo La Coruna ace a three-year deal at the London Stadium, taking their summer spending close to the £100m mark.

Football.London states a deal bringing the 32-year-old Colombia worldwide to the London Stadium will be a loan agreement and will fight with Declan Rice and Pedro Obiang for a spot in defensive midfield - so first-team football will not be a guarantee. He scores goals, but can also create them and link well with the midfielders.

"I'm very motivated and I know I need to work hard to win a place in the starting line-up and then perform as well as I can to help the team with goals, assists and good performances to get the points to move up the table".

Perez joins the likes of Andriy Yarmolenko, Jack Wilshere, Ryan Fredericks, Lukasz Fabianski, Issa Diop, Fabián Balbuena, and Felipe Anderson. The former Chelsea youth player signed a four-year contract with the Hornets.
