Melania Trump - who has been vacationing with her husband U.S. President Donald Trump in Bedminster, N.J. - did not accompany her parents.
First lady Melania Trump's parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, became US citizens on Thursday, taking advantage of a program that President Trump has long railed against.
Wildes wouldn't comment on how the Knavs received their green cards or citizenship Thursday, but criticized the Trump administration's immigration policies to CNN. "I've been a very staunch advocate against the president's policies myself as an immigration lawyer", Wildes said.

Melania changed her name to Knauss when she began modeling. It's unclear when the Knavses obtained permanent residency in the US, the Timesreports, but Wildes said they met the five year requirement.

Thomas Cioppa, New York district director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, presided over the 20-minute ceremony, Wildes said. Citizenship for Melania Trump's parents have set tongues wagging.
The couple met in Sevnica, Slovenia in 1966, and Melania was born in the same town.
