Special Counsel Reportedly Agrees To Accept Written Answers From President

In his newest letter to President Donald Trump's legal team, Special Counsel Robert Mueller is now offering that Trump submit written answers on questions of his campaign's possible conspiring with Russian Federation to interfere with the 2016 election, according to a Tuesday New York Times report.

That's according to a person familiar with a letter Mueller sent to Trump's legal team last Friday.

Mueller's letter reportedly didn't ask for written responses about whether the president tried to obstruct justice, saying executive privilege could complicate the issue.

Trump's lawyers have dangled written answers as a possibility, and Mueller's team appeared receptive to it as an interim measure.

The correspondent cited one of those alleged conflicts, asking Trump whether he had interviewed Mueller to return as Federal Bureau of Investigation director after he fired Comey in May 2017.

A spokesman for the special counsel declined to comment.

The president has said many times he would be willing to speak with Mueller but would await his legal teams guidance.

In his letter, Mueller did not address whether he had ruled out the idea of subpoenaing Trump or might push for a voluntary interview on later.

"This White House has been the most transparent in history when it comes to investigations or inquiries like this", Sekulow said.

The letter was the latest step in ongoing negotiations between Mueller and the president's lawyers over a potential interview.

Mueller has been seeking to press Trump about two broad topics: what his campaign knew about efforts by Russian operatives to disrupt the 2016 campaign and whether actions he has taken as president, including the firing of FBI Director James Comey, were aimed at thwarting the probe of Russian interference.

"Republicans are trying to hide as much about Kavanaugh's record as they can because they know it would be damning", Meyers argued, showing Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) bang his gavel as 2010's Grassley, on split screen, demanded all documents relating to then-Supreme Court nominee Elena Kagan and ample time to review them.

Trump: "There were, I mean tremendous conflicts here, you know the conflicts, you've heard the conflicts".
