  • Nintendo Switch Online service goes live next week with a 7-day free trial

Nintendo has announced new timing details for its next Nintendo Direct broadcast.

Nintendo announced on Wednesday that Nintendo Switch Online will launch in just less than a week, on Saturday, Sept. 18. But what else would you like to see-and what more would you like to know about the Switch online service? So far, the only games that will have online access revoked for non-Switch Online subscribers include: Splatoon 2, ARMS, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Mario Tennis Aces, and Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido.

North America's Direct kicks off at 3 PM PT / 6 PM ET, while Europe's stream begins at 11 PM BST. After maintenance, Nintendo Switch Online subscriptions can be purchased. You can save a few bucks by opting for a three-month membership for $7.99 or a 12-month subscription for $19.99.

The news came as part of a simple update straight from Nintendo, tucked within the announcement of the new date and time for the next Nintendo Direct video release on YouTube.

Nintendo Switch owners will not be automatically charged when the service launches in the second half of September, the company confirmed last month. Perhaps most immediately useful at launch, though, is its promise of allowing cloud saves for any games players have in progress.
