  • Tropical wave could affect western Caribbean

The storm will pull much colder air down from Canada and bring heavy snow across the Rockies and into the high plains of Wyoming, Nebraska and South Dakota. It is expected to strengthen into a tropical storm tonight and it would become Michael.

Winds were forecast to drop in intensity as the system tracks northeast over Alabama, Georgia and SC, reaching North Carolina by Thursday.

Early indications are that we see a tropical storm that moves north and eventually northeast through the Gulf and makes landfall near the Florida panhandle.

Eyes on on a developing system on the Gulf of Mexico. With a movement of 3 mph, it's nearly loitering 100 miles east northeast of Chetumal, Mexico, and 240 miles south southwest of Cuba's western tip.

As of Saturday it was moving north and posed a 90 percent chance of development within five days.

This disturbance will continue to bring torrential rains primarily to portions of Central America and the Yucatan peninsula during the next few days.

At 11 a.m. Friday, Leslie was packing 65 miles per hour winds and moving north-northwest at 9 miles per hour. This storm does not pose a threat to Florida or the USA, but swells generated by Leslie continue to create life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Temperatures look to drop below average into the low to mid 70s next week. Tuesday, these showers (and some tropical downpours) become a bit more widespread.
