Florida recount puts Trump Senate wins on a knife-edge

Scott accused Nelson of bringing in an attorney to "try to steal the election and try to thwart the will of the voters of Florida".

But some Republicans, like Raschein, say they can't account for Scott's lack of apparent support in the Keys, noting, among other actions, his quick reaction in sending resources following September 2017's devastating Hurricane Irma. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement has said they are not investigating, that no allegations of fraud have been brought forward and there has been no written request from Scott yet.

Scott began with a 57,000 vote lead in the Senate race.

Election Supervisors have until noon Saturday to turn in what are known as the first unofficial results.

Under Florida law, a statewide machine recount is conducted when the margin of victory is less than 0.5 percent, and a manual recount is ordered if the margin is less than 0.25 percent. Bill Nelson (Fla.) and his Republican challenger, incumbent Gov. Rick Scott (Fla.), at the end of the early voting period.

"Florida voted for Rick Scott!".

The junior senator said "liberal DC lawyers" were coming down to watch the ballot-counting in Broward - a sign, he suggested, that the county was attempting to commit voter fraud.

In his tweets Thursday, Rubio complained of a "slow drip" of tens of thousands of additional ballots mostly favorable to Democratic candidates. Snipes claimed that this was because of the high volume of mail-in ballots which arrived before the deadline on Tuesday.

The ballots yet to be counted place both Scott and Ron DeSantis is perilous positions.

"Even more alarmingly", Scott claims, Bucher "failed to allow the Palm Beach County Canvassing Board" to determine, as required by law, which damaged or improperly filled-out absentee ballots were valid and how the voters of those ballots had meant to vote.

An enterprising reporter from Local 10 News managed to catch Snipes, who has been the elections supervisor since 2003, as she exited the restroom.

"No, we don't, and in fact, a Miami Herald reporter just tweeted about an hour ago that, 'Hey, we were told yesterday about all the early in-person votes had been tallied, ' and then they found out today, 'Oh, actually no, not all the early in-person votes had been tallied".

This is a familiar refrain for Florida Republicans, who more or less used this same argument during the fiercely contested 2000 presidential election, and ultimately got the Supreme Court to step in and prevent a recount of George W. Bush's 537-vote win from happening. Trump tweeted, "Mayor Gillum conceded on Election Day and now Broward County has put him "back into play".

Appearing on Fox News, U.S. Sen. "Let's blame the Russians and demand an immediate apology from President Putin!" - he wrote.

In addition, Ms. Snipes' handling of hundreds of ballots that had been marked appropriate for rejection or counting was completely out of line, Mr. Cerio alleged, and one deadline after another seemed to pass without any new information on the number of votes in the building or remaining to be counted. "'The Broward Effect.' How come they never find Republican votes?" Republicans were alleging Snipes was knowingly committing voter fraud.
