  • Diwali Dhamaka! Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar BEATS Baahubali 2 with the highest Day 1 collection in Kerala

With a total earning of Rs 47.85 crore on the day of its release, Vijay's Sarkar broke multiple records such the highest opener in Chennai, the highest opening in all of Kerala, highest opening for a Tamil film in Karnataka, Australia and the UK.

The ruling AIADMK was up in arms against Tamil film star Vijay's Diwali release "Sarkar" for its reported reference to former chief minister J Jayalalithaa, besides the alleged depiction of certain government schemes in a bad light. The orders were passed following an anticipatory bail application moved by him apprehending arrest by the Central Crime Branch police.

Earlier, AIADMK workers had staged protests across Tamil Nadu outside theatres screening the film, and had even damaged the banners of the movie. They also said that the objectionable content was already censored by the makers.

However, recently in an interview, TTV Dhinakaran revealed that Komalavalli is not the birth name of Jayalalithaa.

Vijay's Sarkar has finally given up under the vast pressure from the ruling AIADMK and its makers have agreed to edit parts of the movie seen critical of the ruling party, and former chief minister J Jayalalithaa who died in 2016. "So the issue has come to an end", Raju said.
