  • Republican Sen. Mike Lee: ‘Next Congress’ Will Likely ‘Look Into’ Motive Behind Trump’s Decision-Making On Saudi Arabia

In a press conference held in the People's National Assembly, following a hearing to assess the situation of the energy sector, Guitounistressed that "the visit conveys Mohammad bin Salman's brotherly relationship with the President of the Algerian Republic, and will not be linked to fluctuating oil prices, which have lately been rising and falling irregularly".

They then headed to the presidential palace in Carthage, outside Tunis, for closed-door talks, the only scheduled activity during the brief visit by the prince, who was on a tour of Arab countries before heading to the Group of 20 summit in Argentina.

On the other hand, it categorically denied any rumors or speculation regarding the relationship between the two sides.

Saudi Arabia has been put under intense worldwide pressure over the killing and has brought charges against a number of suspects, while denying the crown prince was involved.

Despite the global outrage sparked by Khashoggi's killing, the crown prince has been emboldened in recent days by Trump's vocal support for him.

Asked about the prince's visit, Tunisian government minister Selma Elloumi said he is "welcome" in Tunisia and stressed "historical and fraternal" relations between the countries.

"In our show we tried to establish the crimes committed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia".

The Saudi crown prince is expected to arrive on Tuesday as part of a tour of several Arab countries on his first trip overseas since Khashoggi's murder. The significance here is that this quartet moves according to the logic of power that protects people from the evils of extremism and its supporters.

"The stability and security of Saudi Arabia is an integral part of Egypt's security", Sisi was quoted as saying. He also visited and inaugurated restoration work for the al-Azhar Mosque with Sisi and the Grand Sheikh of Azhar, Ahmed al-Tayyeb; the work began in 2014 at the expense of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at a cost of LE30 million. The two sides discussed several new investment and economic agreements, which aim at development rather than profit.

He pointed out that the first visits for the Crown Prince were to the coalition countries to emphasize strength in the face of blackmailing attempts by Turkey, and the continuity of Arab positions on some issues such as the Qatar boycott.

The official welcome contrasted with hostile protests by non-governmental representatives and leftist political parties with more than 200 protesters on Tuesday to cries of "Tunisia is not for sale".
