In an interview during the Mubadala World Tennis Championship in Abu Dhabi, Novak Djokovic commented on the current and future situation of tennis, where on one side the Big 3 continue to dominate - Novak, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer - and on the other, a lot of younger players coming up.

Djokovic claimed victory on a fifth match point against Anderson, who was the defending champion at the pre-season exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi.

While the Serbian brushed aside the challenge of ATP-ranked no.11 Karen Khachanov of Russian Federation in straight sets 6-4, 6-2 in the second semi-final, to storm into the final, there was a shock result in store in the first semi, with the South African Anderson stunning the World No.2 Rafael Nadal in three sets 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in a match that lasted 1 hour and 52 minutes.

Wimbledon and US Open champion Djokovic now heads to neighbouring Doha where he will be top seed at the Qatar Open starting on Monday.

Earlier in the day, Karen Khachanov fought past Dominic Thiem 6-4, 3-6, 10-3.

Anderson would go on to be beaten by Novak Djokovic, but gave a good account of himself in the win over Nadal.
