Looks like Kevin Spacey is showing no sign of stopping the provocation of public disapproval.

But Nantucket district court judge Thomas Barrett disagreed on Monday and turned down Spacey's request.

Scotland Yard is looking into several allegations against Spacey during his tenure as the Creative Director of the Old Vic theatre in London while prosecutors in Nantucket, Massachusetts, have charged the actor with indecent assault and battery for allegedly groping an 18-year-old busboy in July 2016.

The judge swiftly denied Spacey's request, ordering that he attend the court proceedings.

Spacey had argued he should be excused from appearing because his presence would "amplify the negative publicity already generated in connection with this case". According to a court filing obtained by CBS News, Spacey also indicated he would plead not guilty. The cap was a reference to the year his career imploded amid a number of sexual assault and harassment claims which emerged after Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp alleged Spacey attempted to sleep with him when he was just 14 years old.

"He did not report the crime at the time, and that was largely because of embarrassment and fear", she said.

Neither Mr Spacey nor his lawyers have addressed the allegation publicly, but the actor released a video last week in the voice of his House of Cards character, Frank Underwood, in which he said: "I'm certainly not going to pay the price for the thing I didn't do". Her family made a decision to come forward after others went public with allegations of sexual misconduct against Spacey and other celebrities, she said.
