Police in Kentucky have posted a tweet mourning the loss of a doughnut truck, which was destroyed after catching fire.

He escaped unscathed and the fire brigade was able to extinguish the blaze, video of which was posted to Facebook by local news channel Lex 18.

"No words", the officers wrote in a tweet alongside the photos, including a crying emoji.

The tweet has already been retweeted more than 3,400 times and received about 11,500 likes since it was tweeted by the police department Monday afternoon. Stay strong guys; tough times don't last, tough cops do. Prayers to LPD as they deal with this loss.

"This literally hurts my soul". Krispy Kreme jumped into the madness on Twitter Tuesday, hinting that a delivery of doughnuts was on the way to replace those that were lost.

Krispy Kreme will deliver dozens of doughnuts to the police department Wednesday at 2 p.m.at East Sector Roll Coll on Centre Parkway, the company said Wednesday. "We hope you like sprinkles".
