With the potential of Leonard's first back-to-back of the season coming this weekend, his return to San Antonio is a headline that is finally out of the way and can take a backseat to what lies ahead for the Raptors. It was worse than he expected.

With all the hype surrounding the return of Kawhi Leonard to San Antonio for the first time since he and Danny Green were traded to Toronto, what has been somewhat lost in the hysteria is DeMar DeRozan and what it will be like for him to face his old team from a city where he thought he would retire.

"You move on in life", he said. "You've got to love to play in that type of atmosphere, whether it's at home or on the road". Additionally, Toronto failed to get going from deep as it finished the night shooting just 6-for-30 (20 percent) from 3-point range. "That's what made it so fun".

Yesterday's game between the San Antonio Spurs and the Toronto Raptors was a battle to see which player would triumph over their former team.

"[The] media does a great job to stir people's minds and influence them to think a certain way", Leonard added.

Leonard and Danny Green were then dealt from the Spurs to the Raptors for a package centered around DeMar DeRozan in mid-July.

Thomas says the fans who booed Leonard should not have done so and should have respected him for all of the years playing in San Antonio.

After the game started, Leonard was booed each time he touched the ball. "I knew he was a scorer, I knew he was a great teammate and all that sort of thing, high character".

"I've said this before - it can only make me a better player for what we have down the road, and what we're going to see from this team is only going to get me and us better", he said. So, I felt badly, honestly'. What was interestingly noticeable about the video was how the Spurs broke up highlight clips of Leonard and Green, so that the fans couldn't boo throughout the entire segment.

The problem is, DeRozan is now with San Antonio. Many different times, in many different ways. "You're in a zone of just trying to focus on what you're going to do".

DeRozan tallied his first career triple-double for San Antonio on Thursday.

"It really wasn't [anything]", he said.

DeRozan shot 7 for 15 from the field, collecting 13 defensive rebounds and finishing with just three turnovers in 33 minutes.

Over the summer, DeRozan said that his first meeting with the Raptors would be a game he had circled on his calendar.

The season prior Leonard was having an MVP-like season.
