Arsenal Only Operating In Loan Market, Unai Emery Admits

  • Unai Emery has ruled out making any permanent signings this month

It's unbelievable that the Gunners can only afford to loan players during this transfer window considering the size and revenue of the club. But at the moment I don't have news on that.

Arsenal have been linked with Barcelona winger Denis Suarez, Yannick Carrasco of Dalian Yifang and Ever Banega from Emery's former club Sevilla.

Arsenal sit fifth in the Premier League and have an upcoming FA Cup fourth round tie at home to Manchester United.

The Gunners signed Bernd Leno, Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the summer at a cost of over £70million - but Emery conceded the winter window will be much more frugal from Arsenal.

According to Goal, Suarez has been "convinced" by Emery, who was in charge at Sevilla when the player enjoyed a successful loan spell there during the 2014/15 season.

'It's not easy for him to play three matches in one week, and we pushed him and he was playing three matches during the week, but not ninety minutes each match, ' said Emery. I asked in the last match at Blackpool if he is OK to help us play and he said, "Yeah, coach, I want to play" and he played with a very big behaviour and commitment to us.

"But I am happy with every player today, it is really some injuries that didn't help us in the last matches because we struggled with different injuries with the players".

"We both spoke about the situation with respect from him and from us. My last conversation with him is very important", Emery said.

Emery added: "We are working with the players who are with us now".

Arsenal confirmed that Shkodran Mustafi, Laurent Koscielny, Hector Bellerin, Nacho Monreal, Konstantinos Mavropanos and Mesut Ozil were all back in full training ahead of facing West Ham.
