The singer, who starred on the U.S. version of the singing competition, passed away on Saturday from a blood clot, according to TMZ.

It's truly sad to lose Freeman's impressive vocal talents so soon; she was just 33 years old at the time of her passing yesterday. Freeman's team posted on her Instagram that the cause of death was pneumonia and a blood clot that had traveled to her heart. He performed CPR until paramedics arrived, but she died at the hospital later that day.

The singer made an impression during her time on the show with both her gritty soulful tones and personal spirit of survival.

Jennifer Hudson posted a clip of that moment on Instagram on Sunday. Posting a photo of a rainbow in the sky, Cyrus thanked Freeman "for everything", noting that the rainbow perfectly represents the late singer. According to her manager, the singer had been battling bronchitis and lupus.

While Freeman was only 33 years old, she had already faced and beaten incredible odds in her life before even appearing on The Voice.

Freeman is best known for her impressive appearance on season 13 of The Voice back in 2017, when she went very deep into the season as part of Team Miley, under the guidance of Miley Cyrus.

Others also shared tributes to Freeman on social media. Her final performance as a competitor was a rendition of "Shine" as originally performed by Collective Soul.

Janice told fans that Miley had covered her rent for six months so she was able to move into a new home.

"And I think that you should know that, no matter what, maybe you're the reason why next season someone like you will walk through this door", Cyrus chimed in.

Janice Freeman performs at The COTA Awards (Celebration of the Arts) on September 15, 2018 in Malibu, California.
