Pakistan is behaving like a spokesperson of terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and despite big claims, took no action against terror outfits operating from its soil, External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Raveesh Kumar said in a weekly press briefing on Saturday. Meanwhile, Islamabad accuses New Delhi of violently oppressing pro-Pakistan separatists who are fighting for independence or in favor of a merger with Pakistan.

Pakistan has made a decision to "upgrade" a group of banned outfits, including the Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), to a "high" risk category and start monitoring and re-examining their activities to comply with obligations of global watchdog Financial Action Task Force or FATF, according to a media report today. The JeM had taken the responsibility of the attack in the view of which tensions between India and Pakistan flared up.

Pakistan is a "global epicentre of terrorism and it needs to take verifiable and credible steps against terrorist organisations and terrorists", said the official on condition of anonymity.

Kumar said a recent United Nations statement also called for "perpetrators, organizers, financiers and sponsors of terrorism to be held accountable and brought to justice".

"The widespread presence of terrorist camps in Pakistan is public knowledge within and outside Pakistan". It also says it shut a number of facilities and froze assets of several outlawed organizations.

The prime minister said March 8, 2019 that no militant group would be allowed to operate on Pakistani soil and carry out attacks overseas.

He also said Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan had asked India to send evidence it has against anybody.

The moves come after the two countries recalled their diplomats for consultations as tensions flared after a February 14 suicide attack on a convoy of Indian paramilitary soldiers in Pulwama in the Indian-held portion Kashmir that killed 40 soldiers.

India said its air force hit a terrorist training camp and killed "a very large number" of militants.

He said these decisions were taken at a meeting of the general council on FATF, led by Pakistan's Finance Secretary Arif Ahmed Khan, as part of a series of meetings to comply with the FATF obligations.

On February 27, two Indian Air Force fighter jets were downed and a pilot captured by the Pakistani security forces.
