According to Fox News, Deutsche Bank is already under two separate congressional investigations over Trump's business dealings.

New York's attorney general has opened a civil investigation into President Donald Trump's business dealings, acting after his former personal lawyer and fixer told Congress that he exaggerated his wealth to obtain loans.

The investigation's scope is not yet known at this time, additional reporting from Bloomberg noted.

The documents sought would cover loan applications, mortgages, and lines of credit for Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., Trump National Doral near Miami; and Trump International Hotel and Tower in Chicago.

Cohen testified that Trump inflated his assets and presented copies of financial statements he said were provided to Deutsche Bank.

As part of a lawsuit brought by then-New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood, the president's charity agreed in December to dissolve itself under judicial supervision, meaning the attorney general's office would review and approve disbursements of the Trump Foundation's remaining assets. In extreme circumstances, the Times noted, the AG even has the authority to break up businesses found to be in violation of those laws.

Investigators also requested records connected to an unsuccessful effort to buy the Bills, the person said. A US branch of the German bank loaned Trump more than $100 million for the Doral golf resort in Florida in 2012, and $170 million for the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C.in 2015. Trump still owns the business, though he has handed day-to-day control of it to his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and to longtime executive Allen Weisselberg. James' office is also reportedly seeking records from Investors Bank, which reportedly helped Trump with his Trump Park Avenue residential property in Manhattan.

The Times' source said the subpoenas were inspired by Cohen's testimony about how Trump reported his finances. Both banks declined to comment on this when reached by the Times.

"Will never be treated fairly by these people - a total double standard of 'justice, '" he added on Twitter.

The committees' top Democrats have been interested in Deutsche Bank because it's one of the few big banks willing to lend to the Trump Organization.
