Tiger Woods declared "everything is good" as he arrived at TPC Sawgrass to prepare for The Players Championship after missing the Arnold Palmer Invitational due to a neck strain.

Woods says his job is to make sure to stay fit and flexible.

A motivation for Day to withdraw last week was to rehabilitate his back for this week's elite Players Championship, regarded as golf's unofficial fifth major.

Asked Tuesday at The Players Championship whether he would play next week's PGA Tour stop at Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor, Woods said, "We'll see how everything goes". If I would have gotten my rounds in last week, it would have been four tournaments, so I'm right there where I need to be. "I haven't hit anything but a 9-iron or a wedge in there for 12 years".

Woods chose not to push it last week by skipping Bay Hill, where he has won eight times.

Some of Woods' putting issues could be traced to the neck problems, which he said got progressively worse in Mexico, where despite the issues he managed to tie for 10th.

Dustin Johnson, United States - DJ is rested coming off his victory in the WGC Mexico after also winning the Saudi International last month, and has regained the world No. 1 ranking. "I just got back into something that I do naturally".

Woods chalked up the ailment to his fused back, saying that with his swing, the forces have to move somewhere and in this situation, that happened to be his neck.

At the first Finals event, the Nationwide Children's Hospital Championship, McCarthy posted a T5 finish to mathematically put himself in the driver's seat for a return to the PGA TOUR; however, it was a T9 at the DAP Championship the following week that completely secured his spot for the 2018-19 season. He will feature in the Players Championship from Thursday.

This is Woods' 18th start in The Players.

Unlike other professional sports leagues, such as the NFL and National Basketball Association, which have their own rules that differ from how the game is played at other levels, the various professional tours have always adhered to the Rules of Golf.

To illustrate the distance difference, Woods noted that past year he hit a three-iron and a nine-iron to reach the 18th green on Sunday.

I'm 43 with four back surgeries. "I just got back into something I do naturally", he said. "As I've started to feel a little bit better this week or this past week, then the putting definitely freed up". If you count their U.S. Amateur triumphs, Nicklaus stands at 20 and Woods has 17. "That's the same with social media; that person who took a photo of me ... was kind of creepy".

For now, Woods is trying to keep his game moving in the right direction as the Masters draws near.

"I feel good about both", Woods, the only golfer to win the Players both when it was staged in March and May, told reporters after getting in nine holes.
