Google has released a preview version of the upcoming Android Q, the Android Q beta, maintaining an established tradition since the company has always released a beta build during early March. In Beta 1 the theming section is in Developer options, but hopefully it will be available as part of the regular settings in the end.

There are two different routes you can take if you want it: the traditional developer route, or the super-friendly Android Beta Program route. No more turning your router this way and that to find the sticker with the password on it.

Lastly, beta 5 and 6 will provide beta users with the release candidate builds. Google offers the beta to collect and incorporate user feedback.

Google has also decided that Android Q will stop tracking contacts based on the frequency of interaction. The feature works much like Samsung DeX and Microsoft's Continuum on Windows Phone, but it's a lot more limited for the time being.

Among the changes, support for the foldable display is a primary, if not major feature of the OS update.

Within the Camera vendor partition XDA found a snippet that had the Pixel 3 XL listed as crosshatch but then sargo was named Pixel 3a XL.

But this important change shouldn't overshadow a range of other privacy and security features being added to the mix with Q. Android Q will support native monochrome shooting in RAW format.

Google is also helping apps take advantage of the new foldable screens, and when a user wants to share content with someone in another app, the process will be quicker and easier with Sharing Shortcuts, which let you jump directly into another app to share content. It allows anyone enrolled to update their Android devices to the preview and receive over-the-air updates. Furthermore, all Android fans need to enable the "Unknown Sources" option from the Privacy panel of their smartphones because the update is not being released via the Google Play Store. On the page, sign into your Google account and look for your Pixel phone in the "Eligible Devices" section. Google has also shared the factory system images for all supported device which can be downloaded directly by accessing this URL. It should show up within a few minutes. The inclusion of the original Pixel and Pixel XL devices is a big surprise. The OTA files and factory images for the first public Android Q beta have gone live now. You won't automatically get upgraded to Android Q. Follow the steps above to make sure you keep getting beta software. Google has image downloads available for all Pixel phones alongside instructions to manually download Android Q beta. Here's the site where you can download them.

In addition to these, Android Q brings new connectivity APIs onboard along with support for more media codecs and camera improvements.
